I’d like to share our implementation of the Gidden et al. (2025) model for calculating the planetary limit for geologic carbon storage, now published on Zenodo here.
We adopt a similar methodology, and validate our results against those presented in their Nature paper.
The model can be re-run rapidly for different use cases: testing sensitivities, risk criteria. It ultimately outputs country-level storage potential for both onshore and offshore regions. We hope it can provide an additional toolset for IAM teams. Please do reach out if you’d like to know more!
