I’m excited to be speaking at the International Conference on CDR this June.
As pioneers of the CDR space, we’re all pushing to develop strategies to mitigate global warming and climate change. DAC has shown promising results as a CDR strategy and, at the Gt scale, may have significant positive effects on our Earth’s climate, facilitating the start of its restoration to preindustrial conditions.
But have we thought about how climate might be able to help DAC? Our research shows that efficiency of lime carbonation (Ca(OH)2-based) DAC varies between climatic conditions, and that DAC deployment location selection is critical to operational efficiency, as certain climates help to significantly boost Ca(OH)2 carbonation extents and rates.
