Hello! I will be presenting an LCA for a product system with 7 co-products, including 4 CDR co-products: ERW CDR, corn stover bio-oil burial, corn stover biochar burial, corn ethanol, fermentation CO2 CCS, corn oil, and dried distillers grains. At each point in the product system, we propose ISO 14044-compliant methods for physical allocation of upstream emissions, including allocating emissions from quarrying, grinding, transportation, and application between ERW rocks and the agricultural commodity (corn). We show how disciplined, judicious application of LCA based on the physical science of the system can lead to technically rigorous carbon accounting methods that are flexible enough to capture all agricultural ERW/CDR contexts.
